Below are some helpful links and login information for online Literacy Resources. Please have your child practice on these programs at home to reinforce learning that is occurring in the classroom.

Some Reading Hints
- Make sure you are reading half the time in Non-Fiction Text and half the time in Fiction Text
- Read all different types of text (stories, magazines, articles, tables/charts, all about books, how to's, poems, reviews, chapter books and picture books, and different types of scales.
- Read different types of text in both Spanish and English
- Ask, answer and discuss both literal comprehension questions and inferential types of comprehension questions - Inferential questions are harder to think about but can be applied more to other texts and students will have to think more critically.
- Find something that you want to read and you will learn to like reading more!
Some Help to Build Fluency
* Have your child read all directions and math problems aloud
*Take turns reading every other page to model the way fluent reading sounds
* Read aloud almost simultaneously but just slightly ahead so your child can keep up with you!
*Read familiar poems and songs
* Purchase or borrow from the library the "You read to me, I'll read to you" books by Mary Ann Hoberman
*Have your child participate in reader's theater with a group of friends
* Download Audacity a free voice recording software on your computer to have your child record themself reading and then play it back to them self to listen.
